At A1 Group Training, we understand the importance of possessing the right type of licence within a professional environment. Modern day business requires a variety of legislation and health and safety laws to be adhered to where forklift trucks are concerned; this means that anyone hoping to operate one of these vehicles will need to hold the relevant licensing.
Being a nationally recognised training organisation delivering training throughout Toowoomba, Darling Downs, across Queensland and with a fully equipped training facility conveniently located from Brisbane; we have become the first port of call for those wanting to obtain a forklift licence, individuals in need of refresher courses and groups requiring training for employment purposes.
About Our Forklift Training Courses
In order to receive approval for a forklift driver licence, a candidate must first apply for one of our training programs. Our most popular is the TLILIC2001 Operate a forklift truck – a course designed to aid in the instruction and training of those wanting to pursue a professional career as a forklift truck driver.
What does the TLILIC2001 Operate a forklift truck course entail?
If you haven’t received forklift licensing before, then this course could be considered the entry level for beginners. It will cover a variety of topics relating to the maintenance and operation of forklift trucks. At the end of the course a candidate will be expected to complete an assessment. With over 40 years of experience, A1GT has helped countless drivers to obtain their licences – many of which have gone on to pursue full time careers as forklift truck operators.
When beginning the course, the candidate will be taught how to plan work, take care of routine checks/ maintenance, load and unload the vehicle as safely as possible and ensure that any items being transported are securely fastened in place. The National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work is what governs the training program. The mandatory assessment has been put into place to ensure that only those that successfully demonstrate competency can go on to apply for a high risk forklift licence through WH&S Queensland.
The course contains knowledge and practical components. Once a general understanding and knowledge has been obtained of the functionality and maintenance of a truck, the candidate will then gain practical experience operating the plant and equipment under a qualified operator. This practical experience allows them to come to grips with their roles and responsibilities within a hands-on environment under the supervision of a licenced/qualified operator. All practical activities completed in the workplace must be recorded in the training log book and signed off by the candidate and supervisor. Log books are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
How does assessment take place?
Once the training has been completed and the candidate and supervisor are confident that the candidate can competently and safely operate the forklift in the workplace then they must contact A1 Group Training to book their final assessment. A minimum 5 days’ notice is required. Knowledge and practical assessments are conducted onsite at the A1 Group Training centre at 4 McCartin Court Toowoomba.
Successful applicants are then eligible to apply for their forklift truck licence. Once received, they will be able to offer their forklift operation services within professional environments. For those that not-yet-competent further training will be needed and there will be the option for re-assessment.
How Much Do Our Training Courses Cost?
Our forklift truck driver training course in specific costs just $650, including the price of the formal assessment. This fee includes all forms of training, but you will be responsible for taking care of any transport and accommodation arrangements. Our training facility is conveniently located at Toowoomba making it easy for you to get to from nearby areas.
Are Our Training Programs Suitable for Everyone?
By adhering to all legislation whilst approaching our training from a friendly, easily-followed point of view; we are able to cater to beginners, intermediate drivers and experienced operators. Although the course itself is ideal for those wanting to begin their career as a forklift truck driver; we understand that some applicants may already have varying degrees of experience, either within workplace environments, or outside of them.
This is why our trainers have carefully developed our program to ensure that all skill levels can benefit from the training, while allowing enough time for beginners to develop the required knowledge and skills. Whether you are planning on signing up to a course as an individual, a group, or part of an employment team – the potential to do so within a safe, nationally recognised environment can be very reassuring.
And that is exactly what our team at A1GT strive to provide to our students. We have found that the best way to learn is within a controlled, secure atmosphere where the subject of the topic can be explored and understood as efficiently as possible. Although the course could lead you to take on a professional career as a forklift driver, the formalities are replaced with a friendly and approachable demeanour that each of our trainers pride themselves on.
For further information on this course, or any of our others, simply get in touch with our team today and we’ll do everything that we can to answer your questions. It is now a legal requirement for anyone operating forklifts to possess a valid licence – and we can also help those in need of refresher courses, as well as beginners and contractors in general.
Why You Need a Forklift Licence
Controlling a forktlift vehicle is a serious occupation these days, and thanks in no small part to the necessary health and safety regulations tasked with keeping workers safe; only those that are qualified to drive a forklift are permitted to do so.
That means that without the right licencing, your dreams of becoming a career forklift truck driver will never be able to come to fruition.
And for those of you hoping to be able to get by with a smile and a few friends in the business – think again, as anyone found to be in breach of licencing laws can find themselves facing ridiculously hefty fines and penalties.
Obtaining a Forklift Truck Licence the Right Way
Fortunately for you there are now so many ways to obtain your forklift driver license in the space of just a weekend. We like to call these short courses exactly what they are; training programs of a shorter duration that can help you to fast-track your education.
And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s also the option of receiving CSQ funding to help to cover the cost of your course – as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.
What If You Are Not Eligible For A Training Grant For Forklift Operation?
If you aren’t quite eligible for the training grant then you’ll be pleased to hear that there are still plenty of options to help you to obtain a license in next to no time. That being said – not everyone will want to speed their licensing up and thankfully there are also courses that can be undertaken at a pace that will be more convenient to you.
Now, we know what you’re thinking… where exactly could you enjoy your very own forklift truck driving course that will help you to enjoy your very own license?
The answer is much more obvious than you might think – in fact you’re looking at it as we speak. Here at A1 Group Training, we proudly offer some of the most extensively effective forklift training programs in Brisbane; our campus is located in the heart of the region and we’re always happy to take on new students.
What Will You Need to Get Started?
All that you’ll need is an idea of the type of course that you’d like to undertake, the number of people that will be taking part (yes, we also offer group training) and the time and date that’s most relevant to you.
It really is as simple as that.
If you’re looking for one of the most effective forklift license training centres Brisbane has to offer, then you are certainly in the right place. We’ll take care of the technicalities so that you can focus on what’s important; receiving formal acknowledgement of your new truck driving capabilities.
And we’d like to stress this point again – without one of these licences you will not be permitted to operate a powered industrial truck legally. Considering that you could have your very own license in the space of a week, especially when training with A1GT, is there really any reason why you should run the risk of operating without authorisation?
And What Can You Do With Your Licence?
Do you have any idea of how huge the construction industry has become? Employers are literally becoming desperate for reliable, qualified forklift drivers and they are often willing to compensate license holders very well.
Not only will you be able to step into a career path offering a substantial range of rewards – you’ll be able to do so with minimal fuss, the backing of a nationally recognised license and the knowledge and expertise that our training campus provides.
Technical Information For Enrolling In Our Forklift Training
If you’re keen to enrol yourself (or a group of people) onto our forklift training course, here’s what you need to know. First of all, the course has the code TLILIC2001 – and you can simply quote this when getting in touch with our team.
Next, you’ll need to make sure that you turn up with energy and enthusiasm, as the course will introduce you to maintaining a forklift, using its features, unloading and loading safely, securing any equipment and managing your vehicle in general.
Once you have demonstrated your aptitude, you will receive a license that is based on the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work – meaning that you will be one of the small percentage of people in Brisbane authorised to operate forklifts.
The course is fully compliant with Part 4.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations and it meets all Commonwealth licensing requirements as well, for your added reassurance.
Who is the Course For?
If you’ve never driven/ ridden a forklift before, this course can help by introducing you to the basics and then expanding on your knowledge and capabilities at a pace that suits you. If you already have an idea of the way in which these vehicles are used and can be operated, then you’ll appreciate the potential to cover the basics and then move on to more challenging tasks.
Finally, you’ll probably want to know how much we charge for our nationally recognised training course. Well to give you an idea, it’s less than $1,000 (an amount that many of our competitors charge) and a little over $500 (so you know the training that you receive will be of the highest quality).
